This is very interesting, KUNA [Kuwait News Agency] offers a service where you can download news via FTP from their site. Now why on earth would you do that?! XML anyone?
I have worked with Reuters on news service and they have amazing XML feed-service for all sort of news from around the Globe, ofcourse for a fee.
The strangest part in KUNA offering is this:
What are the benefits of FTP?
1. immediate notification of news without using the Internet
2. the FTP service does not stop if internet servers experience problems or are down
3. flexibility in choosing news categories
Now can someone explain to me how do you FTP without using internet or if servers are down?!
Here is the link to their site for FTP service [LINK]

The newspaper headlines in Kuwait amazes me everyday! This time its Daily Star Kuwait online edition. The headline is ‘State bans sale of White Weapons’ read it here [LINK]
WTF are white weapons? According to the news article they are Daggers, Swords and other sharp metal objects. Damn now I cant buy kitchen knives no more in Kuwait, nor can I buy nails and hammer.
Update 1: Even Arab Times is carrying the same story [LINK]
Update 2: Here is the root of this news [LINK]

Visited The Avenues & Carrefour last night. First impressions:
- Avenues is too expansive [big shops, big walkway] and too white, they need to add some colour to it
- I suggest they use diffuse color lights on the wave shapes that hang off the ceiling
- They might even use the same wave shapes for advertising by projecting ads
- The elevators have names(?)
- Parking isnt an issue as long as you are willing to walk from one end to the other, which is darn long if you have shopping bags
- Carrefour parking space sucks as everyone tries to wrestle in the lot under Carrefour
- Do not shop from Carrefour if you park under IKEA, long long pushing of shopping trolley involved
- The guards remind me of US embassy / Military Zone
- Carrefour has lots to offer in terms of goods but still a bit expensive than City Center(s)
- If you are looking for a quick bite while inside Carrrefour, avoid it from the snack-counter, it aint worth it
- Will I go back? Probably not unless I have to take a guest to show around, and its off the route for me
- Probably might go for movies

Just subscribed to Daily Star Kuwait & International Herald Tribune. The paper will get delivered from tomorrow. Lets see how prompt/punctual the delivery service is [fingers crossed]. The concern regarding delivery was raised by some visitors to ChillNite in an earlier post. After that I wrote to the management of Daily Star Kuwait to give some feedback for these concerns. But nothing came back from them.
