My new Nokia N82

Yesterday got my self a shiny new Nokia N82, and since then I have been having a ball of a time playing with tons of features that this beauty has to offer. Bought the phone from AlGhanim for KD 125.000 thats 20% off the marked the price. They gave a mobile case free with this one with KD 5 voucher and 25 lucky draw coupons. Some of the salient features that N82 has are GPS, Panorama creation, 5 mega-pixel camera, 2Gb microSD memory card, Wi-Fi, Stereo FM and 3G.

GPS works out of the box for Kuwait and is very responsive. The mapping and navigation are pretty accurate, although whats missing are Voice Navigation. This feature can be purchased and enabled for KD 37 per year. GPS maps are in both 2D and 3D. The 5 mega-pixel camera is very good and much faster than my N73. I really liked the new metallic style face plate of this phone, although the buttons are bit small so takes sometime to get used to. I downloaded the Internet Radio software from Nokia website and let it loose over the wi-fi. The internet radio offers hundreds of radio stations over wi-fi/3G/GPRS to listen to, all categorized by genre, region and favorites. Streaming upto 128 kbps is available on many stations from Europe and US.

The panorama software that is built into N82 is not bad at all, and I have spent a good deal of time capturing 180 degree panoramas all day. Will be uploading some soon. Yes the camera takes around 6 shots to create a 180 degree panorama, all one has to do is keep a steady hand and turn around the point of shooting.

Internet browsing experience is very good and the sites are rendered very well in the browser. One great pick in the list of goodies in this phone is smart rotation which automatically changes the screen from landscape to portrait mode when the device is rotated.

There are many more features in this device that makes this an ideal phone for users like me. Overall this phone has turned out to be a gem of a device from Nokia.

One of the most disturbing issues in recent times is the US policy on interrogation of captured terrorists, perceived terrorists and so called enemy combatants. This documentary shows the hard truth behind places like Bagram base in Afghanistan, Abu Ghraib in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. Great documentary and hard hitting footage of prisoner abuse(s), conditions in prisons and analysis of US policies.
