Kuwait Airport porter ripoffs..
The family finally left for home last weekend and while at the airport, I couldnt help noticing the huge influx of Bangladeshi porters vying in to carry your baggage. Now I dont have a problem with any person, nationality, or work background but I personally feel this huge unmonitored concentration of Bengali porters is like a gang waiting to ripoff anyone at the drop of a hat. The Bengalis are like vultures waiting for you to just keep the bag on the trolley while they are clutching onto it and BOOM you are half KD short. This is especially worse when it comes to moving your luggage from security scan to check-in queue which at all the terminals is like 2-3 meters max. In case you decide to argue with these porters they are ready to show you on the trolley “1/2 KD” signange.
I think what these morons dont understand is that once I get a porter at the door the porter is supposed to accompany you till the immigration. And I would gladly pay 1/2 KD for that. And looking at the swelling numbers of these unmetered Bengalis, I dont see why they should worry about their monthly wages, as they make a ton of money with no acountability to their parent company.
As for their parent company, I dont think they care much either, as all they have is free license to dump as many Bengalis as possible in the airport, and they dont have to worry about jack about paying wages, because it says on the trolleys, you have to pay 1/2 KD to the porter.
And the airport..I dont think they could care any less or more…its between Bengalis, their parent company, and us.

you push the trolley yourself, to your own car,.. and one of them is following you a few steps behind,… as if to take the trolley when youre done,…
only when you get to your car, he jumps in front of you to lift your bag into your car,…
and he expects half a KD as well.
as you said, if i need someone to lug stuff all the way then fair enough, 500fils is nothing.
but with the guys above, its guaranteed that whether i am coming back or picking someone up i will always yell at one guy to get the F out of my way cos i’m not going to pay him to lift my bag 5cm. what a great way to end a trip or a great intro to kuwait for new comers.

My mom came back last week and the EXACT same situation skunk described happened to me: I took the cart all the way to my car and all he did was put it in the trunk so i nagged at my mom why i had to pay. She said consider it as charity…ahhh well..it’s forced charity and i only paid 250 fils not half

The parent company needs to sling out these moron from the airport. Most of these morons don’t tag with us to the damn counter. Right after the security check, they swap the trolley and dump your baggage in theirs and then they get too edgy to be paid.
Last vacation, I screamed at one guy saying to him, “you ppls are cheaters”. He then relied, really ma’am, what bout Indians? My mom was insisting me to shut my mouth coz it definitely doesn’t get any better to yell at these stupid morons…
