Gingerbread update on Galaxy S now available, with Arabic support

Finally the elusive Gingerbread [2.3.3] update for Samsung Galaxy S has arrived. I downloaded the latest version of Samsung Kies for the update. With Android Gingerbread update the phone now is much faster and responsive than FroYo. Arabic support is also available with GingerBread, and another feature that is now available is OTA [Over The Air] update for future releases of the Android OS for the the smart phone.
Make sure you UPDATE Samsung KIES to latest version after downloading the version below.

Hi, did you have to root your phone first before the update? I tried updating from froyo and its giving a message saying ‘your firmware cannot be upgraded [or something similar]).
