Today Starbucks organised a media event for Kuwait bloggers, where they introduced the new Starbucks prepaid card. The event started with a round of coffee tasting, where one of their prominent barista was in attendance to explain the basics of coffee tasting. Then the event moved on to the launch of the Starbucks prepaid card. The event had all the Starbucks Kuwait corporate honchos to explain the details.

The way Starbucks prepaid card works is that its sort of top-up card which you get for free with your purchase. Once you get your prepaid card, you can topup the card with specific amount. Next time you want to make a purchase of any item at Starbucks you can just swipe your card and the amount of purchase would be deducted from your balance in the card. The sweet offer here is that with every purchase, you also get free wifi at the starbucks joint for 1 hour. Once your 1 hour is complete, you can purchase another item [from coffee to water to sweets] and you get one more hour free.

You can also give the card as a gift to someone with balance added into it. So for all you coffee lovers out there, this is indeed a cool way to spend your lazy hours at the Starbucks with coffee and free internet.

Couple of things you have to be aware of, the card can be used in Kuwait Starbucks outlets only. The card also has a validity of 12 months from the date of last top up. And there is no security on the card usage, so if you loose your card, you should inform the call center and they would deactivate the card.
