Today [15th of August] the Indian Embassy and the Indian community celebrated the 65th Independence Day of India at the Indian Embassy grounds in Kuwait. The event began with unfurling of the Indian Flag by the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Satish C. Mehta, followed by the singing of Indian National Anthem. The Ambassador then proceeded to read the speech from the Indian President which was relayed yesterday. The Indian Ambassador then gave a note of special thanks to the HH The Amir of Kuwait, Government of Kuwait, and people of Kuwait, for providing all the support and co-operation with the Indian community living in Kuwait.
The next set of events included performances by the IDF [Indian Doctor's Forum] members, and ICS [Indian Cultural Society] members. The event was well attended, and at the closing of the event, the Ambassador proceeded to meet-and-greet the hundreds of attendees. There was no Open Reception after the event due to Ramadaan.
