I tried it on my PC…man..it sucks. Its very slow and cant display Arabic characters.
I don’t like it
I had exactly the same problem…company requires proxy to work and it crushes everytime you attempt to login…couldn’t use it at all..its a shame cause i really like safari on mac..
I can’t even figure out how to load in a proxy!
:-/
Seems it automatically picks up PROXY settings from Internet Explorer like many other native Windows programs. The only problem is it crashes miserably when you type your proxy login credentials and proceed to connect. This has been a problem for me and so far I havent seen it work on other terminals. To set up PROXY just open Internet Explorer and from TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS > LAN SETTINGS set up the proxy.
Now THAT is a pain! I currently use IE with no proxy, and Firefox WITH a proxy! I was hoping to test safari as a replacement for firefox!
yeah!
After i’ve installed, what’s the matter I thought, my fault or may not!
here I found that, that’t NOT ON MINE,THAT’S Sxxxxx’s FAULT!
Never mind I can wait until my PC become ‘MACdows’ .
But now I suggested that I should un-install it from my PC.

so Sxxxxx and Proxy setting & Bill Gates?that’s really interest.
thank you for my first downloaded installation.
I’m not a PC user (sadly a UNIX bod), but I’m forced to use XP at some work sites. Loaded Safari at work, bumped into the PROXY drop down box filled it in …….. WORKED NO PROBLEM. I’ll have to find a way of getting Safari to automatically load the proxy settings, but its works fine, plenty of features, is faster and more compliant than IE of any version. Can’t tell much difference between the XP and Mac versions, except for the menu items in each window that the XP interface forces on you. I noticed also that Safari complies quite well with the XP menu specification that many PC programs (implemented randomly) don’t bother to do, in that keyboard controls are implemented fully.
This is what I found out, and its not much. The first time I ran Safari for Windows it found the PROXy server that IE uses, it does not initially remember your PC username and password to enable you to use the PROXY server. However at this point Safari does ask you to enter your username and password, the first time I did not select the box that states something like “remember this the next time”, and so Safari asks you for it each time. Once Safari has been told to remember your credentials it works without problems. Maybe I’m using a later BETA release (from 28th June).
At this site the user access to IE’s PROXY settings via the CONNECTION button are hidden by the Desktop server group, but Safari quite happily retreives the address of the PROXY server. I’m happy with Safari on XP, running on an old Pentium 4, although I use FireFox, Camino (prefer this to FireFox), Mozilla, Opera etc. The release on this PC seems more sprightly than IE.
One thing I negleted to mention, is that Apple are providing Safari under windows is to make it look not only like the Mac version but also iPhone uses Safari.
