Bikinis & Beach Volley Ball in Qatar. What would you do?

An interesting article has appeared on CNN website about Qatari men going out to see beach volley-ball tournament held as part of Doha Sports taking place currently. They left their women [wives etc] back home because they felt it would be against their socio-religious beliefs.
My question is…Is this a fair dinkum justification? What would you do if this took place in Kuwait? Would you leave your wives behind? Would you go out to such sporting events?
