Read this news article in Arab Times about a drug peddler caught with 10 kilos of cocaine. The stash has been priced at KD 1,500! Well as per US Government controlled substance site, the street value of 10 kilos of cocaine would be around US$ 200,000 or KD 53,000. And if the bust has netted 1000 kilos then we are looking at KD 5,300,000 [5 Million] worth of stash!! Has to be one the biggest raids in Kuwait…Some thoughts…

I am sure there are better ways [and words] to put up a blasting headline. This puts the person who spoke on this subject in a bad light.

Seems they have borrowed the layout from now defunct Daily Star Kuwait website.

Came home today to find the first issue of Al-Watan Daily english edition. Al-Watan dumped Daily Star Kuwait earlier in February after it got slack response from subscribers in Kuwait. First impressions puts Al-Watan Daily in interesting category. Todays edition had business supplement and International Herald Tribune. Overall the paper is somewhat similar to Kuwait Times in terms of amount of content. Lets see if Al-Watan can bank on its Arabic version and marketing strategy to push across Al-Watan as a competitior to Kuwait Times and Arab Times. By the way we are getting this paper in lieu of Daily Star Kuwait, so there are no additional charges at this stage for us.

The moment I saw this snap of Putin on the cover of Time, I knew it would be awarded at some stage, and guess what it did win. Many other brilliant snapshots are covered in the World Press Photo 2008 winners galleries. One of my favs is the Winner of Sports Features series which has shots of marathon runners at the finishing line. The surreal expression of pain, joy, sorrow and sportsmanship has been captured brilliantly in a way never seen before. Enjoy..
