Cafe Sultan Kuwait

Cafe Sultan Kuwait 2

We decided to stop by for dinner at Cafe Sultan , on Gulf Road, near Marina Mall, last night. We had choice between buffet or a-la-carte. Had been long since we had decent buffet, so a quick glance around and buffet seemed good option. The hostess seated us in the non-smoking area, our table facing towards the waterside.

The place itself is dimly lit but elegant in decoration, and tables set in steps arrangement. The top of the steps is the buffet and kitchen area, and you sit towards the lower steps. The place was nearly filled up so we didnt have to wait for our table.

As soon as we were seated, we were served with fresh lebanese khubz [flat-round bread]. We got off to our first round for salads and the choices were good. There was a good choice of green stuff, pasta, ocra, homous, dressings etc. One thing about buffet is you should be careful with salad. Before you begin buffet have a look around for mains first, that way you will have a good idea if you want to enjoy more of mains then take light salad otherwise go for creamy salaad. The mains looked quite sumptuous so we opted for light salaad.

While we had salaad and enjoyed bread with humous, there was a sudden roar of ‘Happy B’Day’ that boomed across the restaurant, the servers went into a guitar frenzy as it was one of the guests birthday. Always a good gimmick if you wanna surprise someone.

Anyhow after the salaads we went in for the mains. The mains had arabian delicacies like dawood basha, grilled hammour, with my favourite, pasta with alfredo sauce. There was also tikkas and very delicious pepper sauce steak. For the rice lovers there was a choice between plain rice, pulau rice [rice cooked with stock], and there was also biryani with fresh cuts. They even had mains on the lighter side with boiled vegetables.

After good two rounds of mains [yep we love food and good food especially] we headed off to satisfy cravings of our sweettooth. Had a variety of sweet stuff to choose from small cakes, to pastries, to lebanese sweets, to fruit salad. Got our plates filled with some fruits, some pudding and some pastries and relished the melting taste, always good for ones palate. Sweet stuff is like the fullstop of a good dinner, it has to be there to complete the sentence.

Overall the experience was a great one with good place, good food, and the tab of KD 6/- per head was worth every penny fils. Go ahead and give it a try and enjoy.
