Experience ‘Courfing’

Submitted by DA on Monday, 7 August 20062 Comments

Ever thought of sitting right across your partner in the same room and probably on the same couch, each with his/her own laptop and logging on to the cyberial world of messaging and emails. So whats new about it ? you say. Well last night me and T2 tried this out, actually. And the idea was to communicate with each other, yes you heard it right, each other in the same room, sitting right across each other, but chatting to each other via messenger.

Well it felt very strange in the beginning and we had a good laugh at each other, but surprise surprise, we managed to chat with each other on topics of the day with certain ease. I am not a psychologist, but I could feel at one stage that we started talking err chatting with each other with utmost seriousness. We felt completely oblivious to each other’s presence, and we were in sort of a shell of our own. The very thought of that T2 was in front of me physically yet her emotions were expressed through emoticons, kind of gave me a curious kick. Well dont this kinky stuff. I bet you all would have similar experiences or would like to try it with your partners. Let us know about it. Who knows this phenomenon may end up in tomorrows Psychology 101 . As I consider this a strange phenomenon and I do consider myself a man of science, I would like to coin it ‘Courfing’.

Hi, my name’s Allison Quick, I’m writing a story on couple-surfing for Drake University’s online magazine in Des Moines, Iowa. I was wondering if you got any good feedback on your post, or if you have any insight into this new trend that you’d like to share. I’m trying to find out as much information as about it as I can in a short time, if you could help me out in any way, e-mail me back at amq001@drake.edu. Thank you!

My partner and I do it often and more often than not end up laughing and feeling stress free. It helps that she has a fantastic sense of humour and writes the darndest things!
