Disaster waiting to happen in Kuwait, everyday

I cant be less assertive in the headline for this post, because this so called disaster is something I come face to face with every week. And it sends shivers down my spines when I think of ‘what if’ God forbid this does happens. What am I talking about? One of the most dangerous, easily available, and of-course combustible fuel ‘Petrol’. Its been nearly three years since I have been in Kuwait and driving as well. And every week I take a trip to the gas station.
Most of the times I am the one who pumps the gas into my car and I stand there watching the fuel meter tick while the fumes of the fuel fill the air. And there just behind me or ahead of me is another chap doing something similar. But the difference is this chap is pumping the fuel in his car while the car engine is hot [on]. This is like sitting on barrels of oil and smoking a joint. Disaster waiting to happen. Just imagine the kind of explosion or breakout fire that might happen if something goes horribly wrong. Well who is victim no. 1? The chap himself, and nearest casualty no.2 would very well be me.
Even though the speakers are blaring on every gas station about the dangers of leaving your car engine hot [on] while pumping gas, these morons just don’t get it. This also goes for many of the ladies that I have come across at the station. The madam just sits in there in the cold air-con, which of-course runs while the engine is on.
Guys/gals lets educate our near and dear ones on this issue and also take the first step of prompting such drivers who don’t follow the basic rules of safety.
Well, I’ve seen it too & won’t lie about doing the same :$ - I’ll remember your post next time & ever time
thank God im not one of those people.. i just have my radio on while the guy pumps my gas.. ya3ni i dont know why they dont do it.. no logical reason..
people like that should be fined! or the guy ele pumos gas should refuse to do so if the engine is on.
the girl in the vid was lucky that it didnt just go KABOOM!
by the way this was because of electro-statics when you put the pump and go inside the car,, you should touch the car again before holding the pump so the electro-static goes to ground..!
It’s a problem. The rules are there, posted. No cell phones, turn off your car. Who is going to enforce them? The arrogant ones using the cell phones and with their cars on just cause a major scene and abuse the poor pump handlers.
Give the people in Kuwait (and I mean the Kuwaities AND expats) a rule and they will make it their life’s mission to break it. I have to agree with momo and Intlxpatr. Another example is the electricity saving advertising done by Tarsheed. Just look at the government buildings, Kuwaiti villas, shopping malls…. they just don’t give a damn. Someday this apathetic and arrogant attitude is sure to catch up with us and innocent bystanders.
