English newspaper subscription charges in Kuwait

Submitted by DA on Tuesday, 22 May 20077 Comments

As you might remember from my earlier post that I have been hunting for English newspaper subscription after the fallout with Arab Times over renewal pricing. Well finally got hold of some info on subscription costs for other newspapers:

  • Daily Star Kuwait + International Herald Tribune - KD20 annually [individuals-home delivery] - No paper on Sundays - Call 482-6780
  • Kuwait Times - KD30 annually [individuals-home delivery] - Call 483-3199 ext: 163
  • Arab Times - KD45 annually [individuals-home delivery] - Call 481-8149

Now seems like we have a full house here. I am inclined towards Daily Star because of price and International Herald Tribune. Kuwait Times has good supplements with the dailies. Arab Times is more popular. But since I have already had Arab Times for last one year, and was actually disappointed with both renewal cost and lack of local content, I will keep Arab Times out of my choices. So lets toss between Daily Star and Kuwait Times. Will update when the decision has been made ;)
Oh yeah..one more thing, strange enough that after my earlier post, the contact numbers on all the websites for subscription popped up! But maybe I might have been blind as bat to have missed them in the first place. I dont know. I am pretty sure the numbers werent there.heheee

Oh easy choice here, DailyStar dude. KD20 isn’t bad, I am actually considering subscribing myself now..

I am on the same track, cause the tagline of Daily Star should be ‘Buy Half-Get One Free!’

Daily Star’s delivery capability is a bit suspect… we got a free subscription for 3 months, but we only received the newspapers intermittently for 2-3 weeks before they stopped coming altogether, and we couldn’t be bothered constantly chasing them up to get our ‘free’ newspapers. As far as I’m concerned they failed the test to show they could deliver.

We were very disappointed with the delivery service of the Daily Star. Newspaper showed up when it felt like it. Not very often at that.

The Kuwait Times gets to me pretty much every day. If you can, get both papers - the Trib/Daily Star is a totally different kind of newspaper. I read the Kuwait Times as a challenge, to see if I can figure out what the REAL story is from the hints we are given.

@intlxpatr: LOL true its a challenge. Not only that but the local news is almost in 3rd person, where you are free to replace he/she/it/they/them with anyone you hate/love. The local accidents, arrests etc are best put comical news items.
