Expats flee Dubai leaving cars at airport

Submitted by DA on Monday, 26 January 2009View Comments

Dubai is facing the onslaught of the Global Economic crisis and the worst fared are the expats who have been living a high-n-dry dream with home loans, car loans, and credit card balances. In the last 4 months or so around 3000 cars have been left outside the aiport with keys in the ignition and notes stuck on windshields with creditor details. Expats are escaping the hammering repayments after a tidal job cuts in Dubai.

Some of the expats are trying to leave the cars around the corner from the airport, and hail cabs to the airport. Most of the expats are from South East Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Dubai has already lost the glitz of real estate, and property prices are nose diving.

No Other Option left rather than leaving things behind. If there was any option for taking cars. I am sure along with these 3000 Car more 30,000 cars would be missing. lolz. People doing right thing gathering what ever they have and going back to square One. Where one day all expat have to go then for some it may be couple of months and for some decades. don’t know when this market is going to be stabilized - so best strategy is go back to home have fun with friends/family and then after 1/2 years try again. it is going to take time for Dubai to get back to its Normal status but for sure one day you will see Dubai is Shining again with all its Glory.
