I am pissed off at Al-Ghanim Electronics

Submitted by DA on Thursday, 24 April 2008View Comments

Has to be the worst week of the year so far. Had project deadlines this week and all my workload is shared between laptop and mobile and I have to be mobile for projects so I need them both. Now last year in September I bought HP DV6600 from Alghanim and this month I bought Nokia N82. Apparently both have failed me simultaneously this week. First off I lost bluetooth on N82 which I use for my hands free and data transfer. And today my laptop booted to a dead screen. Blank, Black, Zilch….on the screen.

The only thing that worried me was the data on the laptop. It changes everyday and I usually take a backup once in 2-3 days just to make sure. I was scheduled to take the backup today and the bloody thing died on me. I did a Google on this issue and tried couple of things, and the solution..”THE BATTERY” viola. Once I took out the battery from its housing and plugged the power in, the thing booted up instantly.

Thanks a ton for Google being around…and Alghanim Electronics I am visiting you guys today so be prepared for a showdown. If you sell at cheap rates doesnt mean that you sell crap. I will be there..and you better have some answers to all this. Let see the pain of warranty replacement procedures with Alghanim now.

I have very bad experience with WANSA product from Al-ghanim. I bought a Twin Tub washer about a year ago. After some time its spinner drum is broken. The material is very cheap. Then the water started leaking it is on wash. I made the complaint, the company guy came and booked it for repair. Ater one and half week of the day they took the machine for repair, I was told that spare parts are not available. So machine was returned to me without repair. I checked with some friends who do repair for washing machines. I came to know that it is well known problem with WANSA machines that company do not have spare parts. I learned a lesson not to buy WANSA products again. I hope you do not make this mistake.

At Al-Ghannim maybe only 5 out of 100 salesmen knows what he sells, and out of that 5 your lucky if you find 1 who understand customer service.

    hi guys at alghanim....
why nobody is telling about good about alghanim electronics...wts going onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

nO OFFENse but the first mistake you made was to buy an HP laptop. I would rather have gone for dell or toshiba since they fare better on reliability.

The lable price in Alghanim is 24% more than the cost price of any product. So if you buy any product on cash they give you 20% discount which means they still cheat you with 4%. If you buy on crsdit they take 20% interest on the lable price which is 24% plus 20%. I bought an HP Pavillion 9700DV laptop for KD 870/- which means I paid 44% extra for just a year. the actual cost of the laptop was only KD570/- Guys, This laptop died after 18 months of purchase, will have to change the mother board already out or warrenty. please dont get cheated. This was my first and will be the last purchase ever from Alghanim.

    Hello,

Ok i have read about the laptop and computer accesories , but i m plannigin but almost all of teh electroic item from alghanim , liek a fridge , microwave washing machine ,a ll of daewoo , teh fridge as i remember is korean made , but i dont know about the microware and washing machine , but on extended warrenty they say taht they would coem to your house to solve the problem , as compared to teh prices of the fridge of LG in lulu , i find the prices for teh above mentioned brand in alghanim liek 20-25 kd more expensive ,
so now what i want to know is that if should buy these stuff from alghanim , also suggest if i shud buy a LCD or plasma tv of wansa/samsung/lg from alghanim ?

Hi there, Yes Al Ghanim have funny salesmen when it comes to selling computers. Just last weekend I went to enquire about a flat screen monitor and this salesman did not know English. God save us.

It's sad to say but it's a fact that Alghanim are selling low quality chi-se electronics items.I bought HP laptop, printer and scanner. With in a week the printer-scanner didn't work, I brought to thier workshop , but still the same problem and I'm tired of bringing it there. My laptop with in a week,it keeps on hanging,I'm patient restarting it all over again because I cannot stop my work. Until the day come,It collapse and I almost get sick. It's the mother board same as my other friends laptop taken from Alghanim. Now,my laptop is not working anymore which is out of warranty already and it will cost me a lot to replace a motherboard. Hu!Hu!Hu!I lost most of my important files and I lost money as well.
My advice to all of you friends, don't depend on low quality electronic items especially Chi-se made...Those who still have their laptop, check it now and don't wait till the warranty expire.Save all ur files because for sure your laptop will be in the workshop for morethan a week. Call Redlington at 22433201/2/3/4 for more details.

Just wanted to know what happened when you went to Al-Ghanim, did they help or not?

ALGHANim IMPORTS CHINESE PARTS AND GETS IT ASSEMBLED IN KUWAIT ..
IT is quiet surprising in recent years for just boosting sales the new manager has done it using the brand name of ALGHANIM which was always paired with quality but now With scrap and chinese failed and faulty products ... they are loosing customers and are having them diverted to other dealers like ALWAZZAN & ALI ABDULWAHAB & ALSAYER & ALBABTAIN & FONO ETC

I think HP laptop are uner warranty by Redington Gulf, located at Dajij in Farwaniya. As I they are the warranty dealers for HP, as had faces the same when i had problems with my CD drive. Make sure they dont scratch your Notebook.

    All the best.
  • Some times you feel like the whole world is against you.
could it be your energy that have disabled your electric devices?

@rash3d: Now thats news to me. Lets see what Alghanim have up their sleeves tonite.

Hate to burst your bubble, but batteries aren't covered by warranty. As for Al-Ghanim. I agree, they're crap. And their salesmen are quite funny when trying to sell computers.
