India Win World Cup Cricket

No words can describe the agonizing uncertainty and wait till the last over of the tournament where the Indian team took the last wicket to beat Pakistan to lift the World Champions Trophy. Oh what a game…if dreams were dreamt for a clash of the titans, the match today has turned those dreams into a reality. Yes, the game, the battle royale, the epitome of clashes was written today and we all witnessed it in our homes, in offices, in cafes, with friends, with family with co-workers. We all have heard about, and seen innumerable times the clippings of how things were back in 1983 when India lifted the trophy for the first time. But todays generation have nothing to complain anymore, but just express the immense joy and celebrate the road to the ultimate victory. Go India…Go! And as they are chanting across the World, Chak De India!

With all this, one has to say, that the spirit of true sportsmanship was seen today from both India and Pakistan teams. Pakistan has again proved that they are a formidable team and they gave their best ever performance today. Excellent sport from both sides and best of luck to Pakistan for the next time. Hoping that these two teams play again with such a spirit and vigor again and especially against each other. Pakistan have not lost they are second best.

But more than any thing else what was almost blasphemous was Shoaib Malik saying sorry to Muslims of the WORLD that they could not win. It seems like the pathetic Mr Malik needs to be told about the demographics of the world again. There are still more Muslims in India than there are in Pakistan and all of them were routing for India. Poor Malik showed an absolutely uneducated behaviour at the world stage and infact took the oppurtunity to appoint his team as the World Muslim XI. I think the ICC should nip the bud right here by invoking a conduct for such behaviour so that the trend never becomes one. Well so much for the Muslim world team of Malik it was almost poetic justice that the Man of the Match was a Muslim, and the song to which the entire nation has been swaying to comes from a Muslim superstar..or were they Indian. Some body should tell that to Mr Malik. Chak De!

At the presentations, Shoaib Malik thanked “Pakistan and people across the Muslim world”. Why bring religion into it? As if Muslim cricket fans would only support Pakistan. A rather silly presumption, especially given that India has a bigger Muslim population than Pakistan and two of its players (Irfan and Yusuf Pathan) are the sons of a muezzin (the mosque official who chants the call-to-prayer five times a day).

these are not my words….but as an INDIAN, I AM PROUD OF OUR TEAM! and our captain didnt say anything about the religions involved! we have only one religion….religion of cricket.
