InfoConnect 2008: Segway cops, UNC 20 KD DSL & e-government is happening

Segway Kuwait cops

Kuwait cops on Segway and loaded with high-tech scan-vans, United Networks offering of 20 KD trial DSL for 2 months with speeds upto 1Mb and e-government projects from KPC to Oman government are happening stuff at InfoConnect 2008.

QualityNet’s offering  Free Double Bandwidth is a false sales pitch…its only valid for 1-3 months depending on package.

As usual the exhibition is littered with cell-phone and accessories vendors who are pretty much offering same old stuff. Zain is missing from the lot. Wataniya has taken huge moronic space on one side of the hall.

Wataniya needs to teach a thing or two about IT to its employees. They had WNet offer for 12 months without deposit but priced at KD 25/month. So I went to one of the sales rep and asked a simple question, “Does WNet work with Linux?” The idiot looks at my face all confused and then says “What is Linux..a new computer or pc like a mac??!!” I just shook my head at the poor sod…and this is Wataniya at InfoConnect! How do they even survive?

Anyways other than that…InfoConnect is one hell of a fire hazard zone as lot of dumb-asses were smoking in the hall and the whole place is carpeted. Before you enter the hall look for fire exit… God forbid but you never know.

Oh yeah and if you are planning to check out girls…be ready for smashing, delirious, nauseating make-up filled chicks. High heels, drooping black-lashed eyes, whitewash faces, skin-tights and flirtatious all the way.

In terms of technotronics.. the Usual Suspects like Al-Ghanem, Elctrozan, Saraf and others are peddling their crappy wares.

Another sad event for Kuwait. Goes a long way to show that IT is just a passing fad in Kuwait. Overall if you have nothing else to do drop by at InfoConnect. But take my advice and give it a miss…
