My N82: Off to ICU

Submitted by DA on Tuesday, 3 June 20082 Comments

Nokia N82

Finally got time yesterday to drop my Nokia N82 at the i2 service center. i2 service center is located in the Khalijia building in Sharq [ask anyone for infocenter , DHL, Pizza Hut building behind Courtyard Marriott]. The customer rep took in the details and handed me back the battery,back cover, and the memory card. First question was how much time..reply was atleast 2 days. Oh well, I gave in. Today I called in to check on the status, and was told that it has been sent to Nokia, and would take another 2-3 days. Before walking in for servicing, I Googled about this issue and seems it is a known problem with bluetooth operation. Every time I activated bluetooth, it would display “Bluetooth error: Unable to perform this operation”, and bluetooth would fail.

Reason for this failure could be from bluetooth antenna problem or device firmware. Seems device firmware can be ruled out as this would be taken care by i2 service center.

Anyways..what pisses me off is that when retailers as big as Al-Ghanim electronics take no responsibility for servicing and would promptly point to the i2 service center. Its not that this is come cheap 20 KD phone. If I pay over KD 100, I do expect some service directly from retailer. Atleast they should have a collection point. BTW this phone is only 2 months old..

    @Willii:

    Yes the issue was resolved only after the full firmware upgrade at the service center [according to Nokia]. You might want to do it once yourself with the latest firmware, before rushing off to service center.

    Although there is one issue with N82 blue-tooth antenna that it tends to get damaged due to humidity. But Nokia didnot mention if that was the case with my N82.

    Thankfully its working perfectly till now..
