Also, I heard the quality of picture degrades gradually over the years. This might be true for both types also. But for me, when I was shopping, I always felt LCD has a sharper image and better quality. Without looking at any numbers, stare at the two and see what you feel like it. I got second opinion on it from someone who doesn't know the different, he also chose LCD. They used to say LCD image will scramble during soccer matches or fast action movie, but I think this is with the old days or bad brands. I have Sony Bravia and never had any such issues. Also, Plasmas suffer from score print, meaning if you play games, or watch lots of soccer where some part of the screen remain the same for long time, after you change channel the print of the score might remain for sometime. So if you are a gamer, don't go Plasma. Regardless of your choice, make sure it has HDMI and several ports, find the best place for it otherwise you will lose its beauty. Get proper surround system and subwoofer with it. I got Sony Bravia and it's surround system. Expensive, but pretty good.
