The heat of Kuwait and stress in Ramadan has drained us out to wits end. Well we needed a break, and so we are flying down to Cyprus for a week. Hope we still get glorious beach weather, well its 27′C at the moment. We are off to Ayia Napa, the crazy sea side party village.

Last time I went to Cyprus was like a decade ago, and at that time visas were on arrival at the airport. Now visas need to be issued at your local Cypriot consulate. Cyprus embassy in Kuwait is located in Mirqab in the Moajil Complex. This building is attached to the main bus depot of Mirqab opposite Souk Safat. The embassy is on 9th Floor. The visa issuance takes 2-3 days but is delayed for us due to oncoming Eid holidays.

Documents required for visa:

  • Valid Passport with 6 months plus residency permit
  • Salary certificate
  • Hotel reservation confirmation
  • Air-ticket confirmation
  • Bank statements for last 6 months

We are flying via Jazeera, at KD 75 per person after taxes, although only one flight per week and that too at 1am early morning Sundays to Larnaca.

P.S. Don’t forget to pack a sweater, it gets very very cold at night :)
