Cyprus..Yia Sas
One week of heavenly beach life in Cyprus finally came to an end this week. Cyprus just gets more beautiful with every visit. The azure crystal waters where you can see the sea floor at depths of 5 meters, the sea changing colors from green to blue to violet to azure is breathtaking. Surprisingly the weather in October was a very pleasant 28′C. We were in Ayia Napa on the east coast of Cyprus. Ayia Napa is famous for its beaches and recently gained the status of 2nd party capital of Europe after Ibiza.
We had hired a car from the Larnaca airport, and it took us 30-40 minutes to drive to Ayia Napa which is around 50 Kms from Larnaca. Hiring a car is the best way to explore Cyprus beacuase its comparitively cheaper than Europe, although the fuel at 1 Euro/ltr gets you. But the beauty of Cyprus is that you can criss-cross the entire country in one day. We drove from Ayia Napa to Paphos [west coast] and with great roads and minimal traffic it took us 4-5 hours.
In general Cyprus is expensive when it comes to food and groceries. Imagine a single medium pizza at Pizza Hut starts at 13 Euros or 5KD and then goes upwards. Small bottle of water would set you back 1 Euro = 350 Fils, average restaurant bill for two would be an easy 30 Euros.
Must see places in Cyprus:
Ayia Napa and further east coast [beach life / night life]
Lemasos/Nicosia/Larnaca [historical / commercial]
Kurion excavation site
Paphos [beach life]
