Land-line telephone number changes in Kuwait which was scheduled for mid-July has been postponed till October. Although its not clear if this is applicable to mobile phone number changes.

As for the changes here is how the change will be applied to various telephone numbers:

1. 777 emergency to change to 112 [this may be due to 7 series numbers for Zain/Wataniya]
2. Residential numbers will have 2 added in the beginning [2xxxxxxx]
3. New telecom company will have 5 series numbers [50-000-000 till 59-999-999]
4. Existing Zain numbers starting with 4 will have extra 4 in the beginning [4-4xxxxxx]
5. Existing Zain numbers starting with 9 will have extra 9 in the beginning [9-9xxxxxx]
6. Wataniya numbers starting with 6 will have extra 6 in the beginning [6-6xxxxxx]
7. Zain and Wataniya numbers starting with 7 will have extra 7 in the beginning [7-7xxxxxx]
8. Special reserved series 80-000-000 to 89-999-999

BTW if you are in printing / advertising business, get ready to make tons of moolah as every printed / published item will have to be changed from business cards to flyers to media content.
