Photoshop Trick: Carbon Fiber background

You can use this trick for a variety of background layouts in advertisements, desktop wallpaper, logo design etc. The idea is to simulate a carbon fiber background using pattern and blending options.

1. Download the following image and set it as a Pattern in Photoshop [EDIT > DEFINE PATTERN]

2. Create a new canvas say 640×480

3. Select the Background layer and Fill with the new pattern [EDIT > FILL]

4. Select Text Tool and set the Font parameters. Preferably use large font size

5. Type some text and right-click on text layer to select Blending Options..

6. Select Bevel and Emboss and adjust the settings according to the snapshot below

7. Now select Gradient Overlay and adjust settings according to the snapshot below

8. Now select Outer Glow and adjust settings according to the snapshot below

9. Click Ok to apply the settings…enjoy the effect. Tweak around for variations
