Physical abuse. Why?
The other day I was waiting for the elevator in my building, I saw a teenage asian maid walk in from outside with a baby girl clutched in her hands. She must have taken out the small girl for a stroll in the nearby park. The madam of the maid just got off the elevator and bursted out on the maid for not bringing some groceries while she [maid] was out. The asian girl was barely able to speak anything as the madam was shouting and moving her hands franatically gesturing the maid had no brains etc etc I decided to wait and watch the scene unfold. In a split second the madam just got more furious when the maid told her she forgot to take money. The madam slapped the maid right across her face, and the poor maid just went crashing to the floor. The maid was terrified and sobbing. All I could do was watch in horror, and couldnt do or say anything because the madam was Local. No point banging my head on this wall, I thought.
What is wrong with people here? Why the physical abuse to people who care for you? These poor souls do everyday tasks for you, they labour for you 24 x 7. I have heard of lot of horror stories, and keep reading them everyday in the newspapers. Please make an effort to educate people who mistreat others.
These people are heartless creatures..besides that they think just cuz they are paying money, they have the right to make their maids lick floor..and the poor maids are bound cuz they have families back to support n stuff.
But we r just looking at one side of story… there are maids who have killed their employers babies..robbed houses n ran away…..!..well little evil world!
I certainly find it depressing, but this is not the norm. It’s probably some deranged woman with no values at all.
Feel free to correct me on this, but I believe there are laws against harming your maids now? I’ve vaguely heard of it somewhere, but I’m not sure.
Trust me, the situation is worse in many other countries, but the fact that Kuwait is moving from the list of developing to developed countries, there needs to be an educated approach towards treatment of domestic workers. 99% of Locals I have come across have been most generous and courteous to me. But incidents like these defies ones concept of a modern society. Lets try to bring togather our mind, matter, and heart and educate people who lean towards this kind of treatment.
listen i think its bad that some maids are abused, but maids are no angles themeslves i have been accused of hitten and slapping my maid and im british, she was out of my house within 2 weeks back to the philapines i gave her a loving home to work in and a great working environment and she chose to lie and make me out to be an abuser so you have to be careful. dont forget lots of these women come from villages and see and hear thing and can actually acuse people when they are actually inocent like myself
