Review: Winners Restaurant [Indo-Continental cuisine]

Submitted by DA on Monday, 17 September 20072 Comments

Last weekend we dropped by for dinner at Winners restaurant. This joint can be missed unless you look closely while driving from Salmiya City Center towards Marina Mall. Look for the directions below. Anyhow we have been there couple of times before and have found to be in the league of Mughal Mahal. As a matter of fact the only thing that puts this one down is the awkward location. Apart from that the food is simply put fantastic.

Our favorites include Lollipop Chicken, and Sweet Corn Chicken soup in appetizers. Lollipop chicken comes with an amazing chutney [dip] which makes its a perfect dish. And serving sizes are very good. One dish is good enough for 2-3 people. For the mains we opted for Chinese varieties and sizzler’s.

The ambiance of the place is the surprising part. Winners is located in the basement of the same building that houses the Mughal Mahal Salmiya branch. Once you step down the stairs you feel you are in one of those retro-discotheques of the 70’s. The seating arrangements have large round table seating with regular seating as well. For those who need a bit of privacy fret not, they do have cabin arrangements.

Service is very good with well presentable and trained staff. They do have catering services and we have already decided to order catering for one of our iftar parties later during this Ramadan month. They have branches in Farwaniya and Kheiran.

Overall this is a must visit joint and I personally prefer it over other Indo-Continental joints. 4 1/2 stars for Winners. 1/2 star loss for awkward location.
