To VIVA or not to VIVA?

Submitted by DA on Monday, 5 January 2009View Comments

Just got this SMS from VIVA that my number(s) are ready to be picked up by Jan 10th. The question is whether to switch from my current provider Wataniya to VIVA or not. Well lets look at what VIVA is offering me:

  • I use monthly plan from Wataniya, obviously would like the same from VIVA
  • Connection charges are KD 15, well basically this has been a bit misleading, since when we booked our numbers in the beginning via their website, they mentioned that bronze and silver numbers were free
  • I get free untimed call time after first 5 minutes of the call on VIVA to VIVA calls
  • Call rates between VIVA numbers and non-VIVA numbers is pretty much same as Wataniya
  • 3G video calls are charged at voice call rates

Well there are many more comparisons but over all the question remains now open to all of you. Have you switched to VIVA? What are your experiences so far?

I'am looking for high speed internet conection, so wanted to get some information on it ofrm them.

Well, just called them now on 102 from the land line, and was connected in no time, so it seems they have fixed the issue described above.
Also got the information I need immediately.

For the services on SMS, and calls can not comment as I have company zain line...

Over all not bad at all as first impression,

@Kip Cartier - Well its me again. I was contacted by VIVA and they told me that due to nature of my package (monthly) my default outgoing international call was disabled. So i'm here to clarify that now my service is working.

    Thanks, VIVA

You all are right. But tell me something, how old is Zain and Wataniya??Do you people expect the same quality from Viva, which is just 1 month old?? Give Viva some time.

I am not a Viva representative nor an employee in Viva, what I am trying to say is that did u people ever dream of receiving calls for free in Kuwait? did u guys ever thought that one day you would dial a number from your cellphone and wouldnt bother hanging up since the call is free?? Did you ever see advertisements saying "First time in Kuwait..New year bonus..or..buy wataniya number for 10kd and get 10kd talk time...or get 999 + mobile for just 9 KD bla bla bla""??
You all are talking about Wataniya, what has wataniya given us that was unique? It was watanaiya's job to offer us the services Viva is offering us now since wataniya was the 2nd telecom company. But what happened, istead of breaking the Monopoly,, Wataniya joined hands with MTC and they both sucked our blood. Charges for local incoming calls, charges for International incoming calls, 45 fils for calling a Local number...charges for everything...

In the end, just three mesgs for you:
    1. Its time for a change
    2. Appreciate what Viva offers
    3. Enjoy whats been offered to you because we deserve it.
No use being Loyal to those who never cared about you before Viva was launched. Ma Asslama...Enjoy Viva

My ads is burning since I unprogramatically switch to VIVA and broke my old sim. Making an international call is awsome, no international SMS nor you can receive international calls. To top it all waiting for 102 service will eat up Ur mobile battery and still no one attends. I was not expecting such aworst service from Viva.
  • @Ali - absolutely right, it takes around 15 minutes to reach a customer care represntative who speaks English to pick up. sick service

I was using wataniya and now shifted to Viva 'coz it is very difficult to get a wataniya number from the MOC land line. If Wataniya people can solve this problem then OK else all you guys better change the Wataniya number
