5th Ring Road was choc-a-block early in the morning during the rush hour. As a matter of fact things were out of control as early as 7:30 am when I noticed that traffic was actually flowing in the opposite direction just before Salmiya Jawazat [immigration] Roudabout. This was a shocker as the cops were diverting the traffic onto a live lane of 5th ring road with oncoming traffic. Anyhow this route was opened again at around 8:00 am.

At around 8.15 am something went horribly wrong and there was a severe bottleneck between Amman street in Salmiya and Route 40 off 5th Ring Road [see pic above]. All of sudden entire traffic was dead stop. In the mean time radio was blaring info on traffic being reversed on 5th Ring Road. Finally after 45 minutes, and covering about 2 kms, we were able to make it till Jabriya exit, where in fact the traffic was being re-routed in reverse from 5th Ring Road [see pic below]. I had to take the Route 40, so continued outwards, and at around 9 am there was completely free lanes on 5th Ring Road. Till Route 40 there was no accident, so could be that something else was the reason for all this bottleneck.
