VIVA the 3rd telecom in Kuwait

The entire Kuwait metro seems to be dotted with VIVA ads now..from Gulf Road to Kuwait City to suburbs. Major marketing blitz for the 3rd telecom is storming in. Should we be interested?! NOPES….looking at the money mongering tactics of previous two Wataniya and Zain…wont be surprised if VIVA hits you where it hurts most, right in your wallets. BTW..we had Red from Wataniya, Purple from Zain, now get ready for White wash from VIVA. Wonder where they get the names from..VIVA?!?!?! VIVA word-origin is Italian, Portugese, Spanish for LONG LIVE!
For those of you wondering about the website address well it will be www.viva.com.kw as per the domain registrar records. The site doesnt exist yet…but they should have atleast put up a banner of VIVA advertisement there. See pic below..

I’m not impressed at all by the name Viva. I really hope that the entry of this company in our telecommunications sector helps lower prices instead of hiking them up, but I’m an eternal optimist!

Viva exist in Indonesia, where i came from, by the name Axis
it has the cheapest rates for calling and texting to the same operator(axis), yet it is one of the lesser known operator since it is backed by malaysia

If this new network company will not charge for long distance incoming phone calls, then i will be it’s first costumer once it is available in the market. As far as I know, this is the only country where it’s 2 existing networks charge for long distance incoming calls.Apart from the fact that people who call us from out of the country already get billed for the call they make, we as the reciever also get charge taking their calls. That’s too much!!!
i think incoming calls will be free…if they dont have that deal then no one will want it….so they have to have an option s attract customers mate…..this company first came out with couple of name….AXIS, SAWA, LANA, JAWAL….but atlast they choose viva…..and the colors they are using are girly colors….crap

well in a competitive market a new competitor will lower the prices n provide better offers to its customers.
but in kuwait….its kinda hard to say. i still feel theres monopoly in telecom industry even with 2 telecom companies in the market..
i dont see any competition between zain n wataniya….

I am sorry MARLOT, all operators will charge for incoming international calls in Kuwait. The charge is not by the company but mandated by the Ministry of Communication. The Ministry owns the international gateways and all international calls are routed through them. They charge the operator, and the operator charges the customer. Unless the Ministry allows for the operators to have their own gateways, we will all be paying for incoming international calls. :S

as said by one user here waves. your information is correct but wat about the incoming calls from landline which are local from kuwait exhange, in india all kind of incoming calls, international , local std or any incoming calls are free. and the out going charges are so less comparing to kuwait its free of cost.
really mtc and wataniya are just looting no doubt they have very expensive decor in their offices , but this all is from our pockt
just one indian mobile company should be allowed in kuwait than see how the pricess come down ,, thats reall indian business mind will do or let them take over any running mobile operator
prices charged in kuwait are among the highest in the world
come on guys we are just hoping that viva will bring down prices,, but i am afraid to say so that chances are very thin.
they illegal phone operators are coming up like mushrooms in kuwait just becos moc charges are high for usa its 100 fils and other countries more? why so , if they drop the prices those illegal operators will vanish
its not just the mobile ,, the whole infrastructure of telecommunications of kuwait is very expensive but people have no choice thats why they go to mtc and wataniya, but if there was a cheaper and economical choice, mtc and wataniya would have closed down long back

Its good one more telecom Co is to operate,Surely this would benefit the consumers.I would like to add that we have no open telephone booths in Kuwait to make International calls,if some mechanism is designed to make International call at the least possible price,this would enable to cut down the illegal call system.

Welcome VIVa to Kuwait. Introduction of VIVA will give good impact on current running telecommunication in Kuwait. The 2 company ZAIN and WATANIYA, profit making money, whereby they charged for incoming calls either by LANS line, foreing incoming. etc. where as in asia, no incoming charge either from lans, mobile or foreign. Hope VIVA will not follow the same. Shud care for customers and their pocket,
SIM CARD shud not be cancelled if they are not charge within 30 days, but shud be valid for at least year period ,or for life l long as it is in asia.
Hope charges be less than Zain/ Wataniya and like other countries in world. Outgoing call (Asia) be less i.e 50 fils , so that illegal operation be wined up. People are forced to go to illegal phone as they charge 30 fils per minute for asian countries, whereas mobile charges or thru ministry are highly more, unbearable by common man.

Welcome to Kuwait Viva…we have a lot of expectation from a Telecom company who has enetered in Kuwait as from last so many years unwantedly we have no options. We are expecting that there will be cut down in price in incoming calls and slabs will be more beneficial to the consumers. The real reason of people using internat calls is because of this. People want cheap International calls incoming as well as outgoing.Atleast incoming should be free from all service providers..and you the success within 3months as everyone is expecting this from Viva.
