During the Athaan [prayer call] time, if you are tuned into any FM station in Kuwait apart from BBC, they all play Faith of Islam by Maurice Jarre from the movie ‘The Message‘. Why cant they play the Athaan itself? I mean there has to be some logical reason for this, so any ideas drop in your comments.

Because they are “simply” stupid !
i think because they want you to stay on the mood of having fun, they dont want to be the reminder..
Since music is impermissible in Islam, anyway, it really makes no sense.
I just came by the post by sudden after reading the Zondas post, to stay in the post subject, well, IMHO they think its not a good idea to play the athaan in a POP/Songs stations (respecting the relegion), Also to go with it as a scale of athan and the Faith of Islam, if you noticed most prayer calls (Athan) are in Hijaz Scale which is originally a westren scale adoupted to arabic music and named after Hijaz (A big spot with a great history during islam and since the beginging days) which is mostly musicians feel that it gets you closer to god and moves your feelings towards the thing its played for….. its a long long dicussion here to make it short do some search on Hijaz Scale (Maqam), and in the same time ask yourself why dont they play any other Taqsim or something, And dont get too deep in the scale thing because it will take your whole life (HAPPEND TO ME!!!)
and here is a link i hope it doesnt get censored or deleted for quran recitations in 3 Diffrent maqams which will help you with it.
