Here is a list of my fav. traffic jam hot-spots in Kuwait. The traffic jams occur usually at different hours of the day at each location, but given the ownership rates of automobiles per person in Kuwait, I can safely say this would become a 24 hour trend sooner or later. So here is my list:
1. Tunis St Hawally

This is number 1 in my list because it is the cloggiest, slowest, worst offender in the list of routes with traffic problems. Try your luck driving through here between 6-10 pm on weekends. You can finish a full album while trying to go from one end to other one. Culprit-Restaurants on main road
2. 5th ring Road between City Center & Jabriya

This is one of those routes which is the artery/vein to the major residential areas of Salmiya, beaches and shopping malls. Worst part is the bloody thing is under construction for past one year, and is gonna be completed by 2010. So if you are driving to Salmiya in evenings on any given day, or worst, driving off to work in mornings, get ready for choc-a-block of hellish proportions. Culprit - Ongoing construction
3. Free Trade Zone Exit

Why this is on number 3? Well because its a shameful one. Consider this, you have a single lane traffic that takes you to the FTZ and also to the Shuwaikh Port, with all the humongous trucks in parallel, behind you, over, all around you, and to top it all that single lane has wrinkles worse than your granny, so you get the best roller-coaster ride while you drive. Hello traffic department, hello municipality, hello government, do something about it. This shouldnt be the way to FTZ, what do you guys do when you fly down to Dubai every weekend? Dont you wanna develop FTZ? Culprit-Govt Administration
4. Gulf Road

Hahaha…I dont know if this should be considered a traffic hot-spot or rally circuit, or flirt lane, or simply fun-lane. I guess all of you know what I mean. This is a big one, but I would spare it all the cynicism because we all are in a love-hate relationship with this one. Culprit-every one of us;)
