  • perro said:

  • gannon said:

looks like the Bull Terrier not Pit bull learned its lesson and the picture looks like it was taken for record at the vets office so dont go saying that the owner is at fault he/she could have only found the dog like that. Iv had to pull quils from my dog when we were out camping. This is good picture to show what a porcupine can do.

My question is this; at what point did the dog sorta think to itself that it might be a bad idea to attack the porcupine? The barbs come from each time the dog launched in, so it was repeatedly attacking the porcupine, not the other way around. Porr thing, though.

  • Jack said:

its a shame those porcupine had no poison. the damn dog deserves it.
and for all of you people crying “poor poor dog, bad assholes” etc: what if the porcupine hadnt its defense and got slaughtered by the dog…would any of you care for the poor porcupine? its weapons are its life-insurance, think about it, its called nature…

I had a german wirehair that got into a porcupine not once but twice. The problem was when we were hunting she would find them a hundred yards away from us and when they poked her it pissed her off so she attacked them. Not necessarily the owners fault for that happening. She was slightly smarter and never got that beat up from it but did have to take her to the vet to get the needles out of her throat the first time. I think she learned cause the second time she only got about 10 needles.

  • Stephanie said:

Okay well again not all dogs are attack dogs maybe it got curious seeing a fuzzy thing in the yard. i mean if i was a dog and saw a walking fuzz thing id go up to it and see what the hell it is. Now i understand that maybe this pix is for the vet or something but their is no need to post it on the google images. Its to disturbing to look at. it may be a good example to wat these animals can do to a dog but their can be better ways of showing it and this to me isnt a good way. Now we cant be quickly judgeing the owners cause maybe they got help for the dog and cared for it. You cant rly take that thing off its face without the animal grasping harder. i mean purcipines they think that everythings a threat and will attack.

  • bob said:

that dog got put down cuz it was blind an had infections from the spikes

  • jonas said:

yeah cool pic if it was fake. imagine it’s your face that has all those spikes embedded. sh*t that’s just sick!

u liar …… it is not possible that the porcupine could prick it’s thorns so evenly all over the dogs head ….. u cheapskate pervert, looking for publicity in your dogs misery.

And u think that it is funny, u are a sicko u need to be sent to a mental asylum.

  • loshan said:

Just FYI….my dog looked just like that yesterday. I live on twenty acres in the woods and he went to his usual spot in the trees to nap on a hot afternoon and I heard a commotion, within about 1 minute, he looked just like that. His tongue was so covered he could not close his mouth. We rushed him to the emergency vet forty miles away (who said she sees at least two per week like that) and they spent four hours with him under anethesia and three people working to get the quills out. He currently has 48 staples closing small incisions they had to make to take out broken ones, etc. BTW, the bill was $589, I paid it gladly. Get a grip on yourselves before you decide the owner was at fault or the dog had to be put down. Mine will be fine. His eyes are okay although he feels pretty bad today.
BTW, the vet also said that dogs (like our other one) who only get five or six quills in the nose, won’t ever go near one again. BUT dogs that get covered usually go after any porcupine they can find since they get really mad about the pain.

I got this picture in email so i am taking wording from the email about the Pitbull dog

    BULL VS PORCUPINE
NOW THAT’S COMMITMENT. NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER HE NEVER GAVE UP
IN THE BACK YARD OF HIS HOUSE IN NORTHERN PENNSYLVANIA
A PIT-BULL DECIDED HE WOULD BATTLE A PORCUPINE

A VET HAD TO SEDATE THE DOG, TO REMOVED A TOTAL OF 1,347 QUILLS.

THE VET CHECKED PORCUPINE IT WAS NEARLY NAKED BUT OTHERWISE UNHARMED.

    BECAUSE OF THE PAIN’
ANY OTHER DOG WOULD HAVE RETREATED AFTER JUST ONE OR TWO QUILLS
BUT THIS DOG HAS TO BE THE BRAVEST DOG IN THE WORLD OR JUST A BLOODY NUT CASE

Way i have read that is owner found Pitbull and Porcupine in that condition. I think pet Owner was responsible anough to take both to the vet regarding the situation.

Most havent realise Pitbull nature is to fight and that is exactly what this dog did.

Anyway that is my thoughts on subject

All of you, read before you post on the internet, no one FORCED there dog to fight a porcupine, learn to read.

    http://rvforsaleguide.com/images/pitbull-fights-porcupine.jpg&imgrefurl=http://rvforsaleguide.com/pit-bull-fights-porcupine.htm&h=334&w=478&sz=82&hl=en&start=9&usg=__SwdW9eYx_zJii81anpNULNAFw5s=&tbnid=lBkeoEDnHpPVzM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=129&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpitbull%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

Pit bulls are notoriously instinctive. Had this been a German Shepherd for instance attacking a porcupine he would have backed off after the first quill. But pit bulls do not work that way. Their instincts override their intelligence. Once in a rage they may continue to attack regardless of consequences. That’s great if they are attacking the man that is breaking in but otherwise pit bulls can be a problem.

I wish I had pictures of the naked porcupine, as I have never seen one. This pit bull was put to sleep from getting blind and the infections from the quills. The term “pit bull” is used to describe several breeds of dogs with similar physical characteristics, the American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier. The pit bull is a medium-sized dog. They have a short coat which accentuates their muscular bodies looking like a doggy bodybuilder. Their skin can be extremely sensitive due to them shedding.

The myth that pit bulls have a “locking jaw” mechanism and that the dog cannot let go once it has bitten is not true. For the most part, pit bulls have strong jaws for their size. A few studies have been conducted to this “locking jaw” mechanism. The result of the study was that their jaw structure and function is no different from that of any breed of dog. For eye candy click cool pictures.

Another myth is that “pit bulls don’t feel pain”. Pit bulls have the same nervous system of any other breed. “Gameness” is the trait defined as the desire to continue on and/or complete a task despite pain and discomfort. Pit bulls were breed to finish the task they were required to perform, tolerating or ignoring discomfort and pain. Therefore, the difficulty in deterring a pit bull from its task is not an inability to feel pain but rather a desirable trait in the trained working dog.

They are known for confidence, intelligence, and loyal temperament. As well, they have an extremely high pain threshold. Pit bulls need to be exercised frequently, as they are athletic and energetic dogs. They are eager to please and brimming with enthusiasm. Pit bulls are naturally agile, intelligent, and willing to work which makes them one of the most capable canines for performance events.

quit your job, retire now, work from home, seriously!

Pit bulls are not always a good choice to have as a guard dog because they are friendly even to strangers. Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable.

Most pit bills have some level of dog aggression and because of its powerful physique an owner must carefully socialize and obedience train the dog. Click bunny pictures to see a pit bull puppy and rabbit at the beach.

You people are retarded. It’s not like the owner forced it to fight a porcupine. My Shorthair Pointer is addicted to hunting these things for some reason and every time he gets them cornered, we have to take him to the vet. Thankfully, he’s never had it as bad as this girl. I hope she didn’t go blind. If she survived, she had to be knocked out and strung up to remove the spikes. She wouldn’t have been able to lay down and removing the spikes is ungodly painful.

All that damage you see on this dog’s face? Happened in two seconds. Not enough time for the owner to do anything about it. And that dog had one hell of a good time. I’ll bet she goes after a porcupine again.

I’m an animal lover, and this is exactly why I hate PETA and these morons who jump all over animal owners like this. You people don’t know SHIT about animals.
